Salmon Coast’s Sea Lice Training Workshop

Salmon Coast is partnering with Cedar Coast Field Station to host a Sea Lice Training Workshop. Participants will become part of a dedicated community trained to monitor wild salmon health on the coast of British Columbia. During this week-long, hands-on workshop you will learn how to safely catch and handle juvenile wild salmon in order to identify parasitic sea lice and monitor for other indicators of health.

The event will take place at Cedar Coast Field Station from May 22nd-May 28th, 2022. Through generous support from the Sitka Foundation and Sea to Cedar, it is free to attend. Accommodation and some food is included. Participants should arrive in Tofino on May 22nd, and boat transportation from Tofino to Cedar Coast Field Station will be provided.

Proof of COVID vaccination is required. We will provide each attendee with a rapid test in Tofino and require a COVID-negative result before boarding the boat to Vargas Island. We will continue to update our COVID protocols in consideration of the guidelines provided by the BC Provincial Health Office.

If you are interested but unable to join us this time, please get in touch and we can keep you updated on next year’s dates.
