Salmon Coast Field Station welcomes research applications on any topic. We are especially interested in supporting research on regional management issues, and research that helps protect the local ecological and social communities within the Broughton Archipelago and throughout coastal BC.  You should check out our Facilities page as well to get an idea of our capacity and resources.

Research Application Process

If you are interested in applying, please follow the steps below. We look forward to hearing from you.

  1. Read through our website for background information about SCFS.  Website sections of special interest include Facilities, and FAQs.  Contact info@salmoncoast.org if you have further questions.
  2. Complete a SCFS Research Application Form and submit it via email or mail (address below).  Our Board of Directors will look it over, and at this time it will also be sent to the KHFN ( Kwikwasut’inuxw Haxwa’mis First Nation), as they must also approve research taking place in their territory. This is a good time to also discuss any special power, equipment, or boat rental needs you may have.
  3. Once the Directors and the KHFN have approved your research application, complete a *SCFS Liability Waiver and *SCFS Emergency Info Form for each crew member and send them to the Station Coordinators at least two weeks before arrival.
  4. When you arrive, you will be required to sign a User Agreement Form stating that you have read and agree to the policies outlined in our User Handbook and Emergency and Safety Documents – feel free to read them ahead of time and even fill out the *SCFS User Agreement Form.
  5. Come on out!
